More than 500 million people worldwide live with a disability. This represents about 10% of the world population.
Para-cycling has been governed by the UCI since 2007. The UCI is therefore one of the first International Federations to manage and develop a sport for both able-bodied athletes and athletes with a disability.
|Para-cycling is the third most important sport at the Paralympic Games after athletics and swimming.||In 2010, Baie-Comeau hosted the first major para-cycling competition in North America, UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships.|
